Sports footcare

Even ‘normal’ living puts a lot of stress on the feet. But sports activities make even greater demands on them, which can lead to a range of injuries, from blisters and sprained ankles to torn ligaments and many other joint or muscle problems.

And, of course, just like everyone else, sports players are always at risk of suffering from common complaints such as corns, calluses and Athlete's Foot. Here are a few tips to help you keep your feet ready for action:

  • Wash your feet every day, and dry thoroughly.
  • Wear only good-quality, well-fitting cotton socks.
  • Keep within the weight range for your height, as being overweight or out of shape places added stress on the feet.
  • Always use the appropriate footwear for each sport and surface. Footwear should be given the same consideration as any other piece of sporting equipment.
